Year 2011 was a challenging and exciting year. It was not only because our business has continued to improve since the last period of global crisis, but also because of the various achievements of the company’s performance in social and environmental areas. That business success is not simply determined by economic indicators, but also determined by social and environmental indicators, has long been upheld by Antam, as reflected in Antam’s Vision and Mission statements. The most notable thing that we can confirm from the achievements of the company’s performance in 2011 is a rise in investments. It was economically very significant, as seen from Antam’s various new projects in 2011, with the realization of total capital expenditure to Rp2.127 trillion. In social and environmental investment, as can be read in this report, our investment also increased rapidly from Rp283.65 billion in 2010 to Rp366.9 billion in 2011. Along with the encouraging economic performance, Antam’s social and environmental performance have also experienced a string of great progress. Each indicator can be observed in this report to learn the progress that has been achieved by Antam.

Just as in the preparation of Sustainability Report in 2010, we use GRI G3.1, which is the latest version of the Standard Disclosure launched by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). In addition, we also use the framework of Mining and Metals Sector Supplement (MMSS) issued by the same organization. Continuing what has been done since last year, we are very pleased because this report still uses cross references between GRI reporting standards and Guidance on Social Responsibility of ISO 26000:2010. This is not intended as a statement that Antam has fulfilled all principles and expectations in the seven core subjects of ISO 26000:2010, but rather to show Antam’s strong motivation toward their fulfillment. Antam is aware that there are still gaps between the present performance achievement of the seven core subjects with stakeholders’ and our expectations that are clearly suggested in the report, but Antam will also strive to keep narrowing these gaps.
