Jakarta, April 7, 2014 - PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM; ASX - ATM; IDX - ANTM) expresses its deepest condolence over the unfortunate landslide incident at the former education and training building at ANTAM's Gold Mining Business Unit in Bantar Karet Village, Nanggung District, Bogor Regency, West Java. The unfortunate landslide occurred on Saturday, April 5, 2014.

ANTAM's President Director Tato Miraza said:
"We express our deepest condolence to the family of the victim. We are committed to improve the monitoring on the safety of geotechnical conditions to ensure the ground stability surrounding the area of our operations to prevent similar incidents occurring in the future."

The Emergency Response Group (ERG) of ANTAM's Gold Mining Business Unit immediately took action upon receiving the incident report and was able to evacuate the victim. An employee of CV Jaya Abadi—ANTAM's contractor, Mr. Nasikun, passed away due to the incident.

The unfortunate incident took place outside of the operations area of the Gold Mining Business Unit. The building was scheduled for demolition and to be converted as reclamation area. Nonetheless, the building was used by employees of several of ANTAM's mining contractors as temporary settlement.

According to eyewitness, the landslide occurred during heavy rains at 6 pm. The slide of water, dirt, mud and other debris at least 30 meters deep which was located approximately 200 meters away hit the building.

The incident was due to heavy rain fall of 130 mm, higher than the average falls of up to 70 mm, which occurred during the past few days in the area.

None of ANTAM's facilities were damaged by the incident. Mining and gold processing activities at Pongkor continue to operate at normal level.

ANTAM will continue to improve its efforts to prevent similar incidents in the future by improving the monitoring on the safety of geotechnical conditions in the facilities of the Gold Mining Business Unit, including vacant buildings.
