ANTAM's Audited Net Profit Surges Over 2.5 Times To Rp1.683 Trillion

Jakarta, March 23, 2011 – PT ANTAM (Persero) Tbk (ANTAM; IDX – ANTM; ASX - ATM) is pleased to announce its audited financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2010, with net income of Rp1.683 trillion, an increase of 179% over the Rp604.3 billion of 2009. 

ANTAM’s consolidated audited sales revenue reached Rp8.744 trillion with ferronickel, a processed commodity, as the biggest contributor with 42% contribution. Although ANTAM’s consolidated audited sales revenue of Rp8.745 trillion was a slight increase over Rp8.711 trillion in 2009, the significant increase of ferronickel sales, which had high margins, was higher than the decrease of precious metals trading activities which was significantly reduced at the beginning of 2010 to reduce the risk of price fluctuation.

In 2010, production of ferronickel jumped 49% over 2009 to 18,688 tones nickel contained in ferronickel (TNi). ANTAM’s ferronickel sales volume was 29% higher over 2009 to 18,254 TNi. ANTAM’s nickel ore sales in 2010 rose 20% over 2009 to 5,863,840 wmt with production also rose by 20% to 6,993,454 wmt. ANTAM’s nickel ore contributed 27% of sales in 2010.

As ANTAM began the commercial operation of the Cibaliung gold mine, gold production rose 6% over 2009 to 2,776 kg. Sales volume of gold decreased by 49% to 6,561 kg as ANTAM significantly reduced precious metals trading activities to reduce the risk in price fluctuation. As a result, contribution of gold to ANTAM’s sales was 27% compared to 50% in 2009.

As a result, In 2010, ANTAM’s audited consolidated net profit of Rp1.683 trillion was 179% higher over 2009 net profit of Rp604.3 billion. ANTAM’s earnings per share in 2010 was Rp176.77 over Rp63.46 in 2009. ANTAM’s net margin in 2010 of 19% was significantly higher over 7% net margin of 2009.

ANTAM remains confident on its solid operations and financial performance in 2011. ANTAM targets ferronickel production of 18,000 TNi with sales target of 18,500 TNi in 2011. Meanwhile, ANTAM targets nickel ore production of 7.65 million wmt with 5.86 million wmt of nickel ore sales target in 2011. In 2011, ANTAM targets gold production of 3,804 kg, with Pongkor contributes 2,007 kg of gold and Cibaliung contributes 1,797 kg of gold. ANTAM targets gold sales of 7,304 kg, including third party refining. In 2011, ANTAM targets bauxite production of 200,000 wmt with 200.000 wmt of sales target.

Inline with the tsunami disaster in Japan, ANTAM is confident its sales to Japan will remain on track and may alter its export sales to other buyers if necessary. ANTAM remains confident its sales will not be affected by the disaster.

In 2011 ANTAM also continues to focus on its value added growth projects such as the Tayan Chemical Grade Alumina project and the FeNi Halmahera project.
